A six mo nth old lurcher/shepherd sort of thing who came all the to the UK from Romania via bus just 4 days ago. She is the latest addition to our family and has settled in pretty well, all things considered. She has got the sweetest nature, not an ounce of aggression or resource guarding, which is fantastic considering we have an almost three year old daughter who can love doggies just a little too much!

I thought that the UK had a 6 month quarantine on dogs? Maybe this doesn’t apply to puppies? Maybe just from the US?

We do, but all of the dogs from this charity get their own pet passport ( which involves a full medical check-up) before travel. Another bonus being we can now travel abroad with her whenever we wish.

All above board and official like! The charity shelters in Romania really struggle to get rid of their dogs, and Barking Mad Dog Rescue seem to do stellar work in bringing those dogs to the UK.

Cool. Great you took her in, where she’s from doesn’t matter, what matters is she has a loving home and treated like she should of been from birth. And I know you’ re the kind of person to give her just that.

That is honestly where I got my screen name from. My previous dogs and their 4 muddy feet jumping into my Series Land Rover and it’s 4 muddy tyres (feet)

Animals have to either be quarantined or returned if their medical history isn’t properly documented but really all animals entering and leaving the U.K. have passports whether it’s a cat, horse, etc...

Controls are stepped up if coming from a known rabies area or other similar virus that has experienced an outbreak in a given period.

From the US, you can have them checked by a vet over a period time, rather than actually having to have them wait in quarantine. One of my family’s dogs went over there and the process was pretty painless, though expensive. Though a lot of risk/cost could have been avoided had she been allowed to fly in cabin, but flights to/from the UK didn’t allow that.
